The book recounts the evolution and functioning of the Telugu film industry between 1940 to 1990. It records the different events in the development of cinema in India since 1895. The interesting narration records the various stages starting from silent movies to the post modern of cinema later.
   The book borrows extensively from the books published earlier by people who have had rich experience in the evolution of Telugu film industry. But most part of the narration is the result of material collected from primary sources. Unpublished material, events recorded in daily papers and periodicals besides journals on cinema are examined in depth. Almost all of the senior artists are interviewed and a questionnaire also is administered to some. Government records are also consulted.
   The book discusses in detail the roll of various types of technicians who assisted with film industry including their organisations. The role of prominent technical experts who played an important role in film industry is also discussed.
   The author also discusses the role of the State and Central Governments as well as other institutions of the industry which provided immense change in the development of the industry. Particular their relating to events that prompted the shifting of the industry from Madras to Hyderabad. [Vom Buchumschlag]
