ALEX MCKAY (*1955), formerly Lecturer in South Asian history and a research fellow at both the University of London (SOAS), and the International Institute for Asian Studies in Leiden. In 2006 he took early retirement to return to Australia, where he lives in the Manning valley (NSW) with his artist wife, and is completing a history of the multi-faith pilgrimage to Mount Kailas in western Tibet.
